Default How can I get my website listed in DMOZ (The Open Directory Project)?

Ive used their application with no luck! I have heard that you have to know an editor to have your site listed. We are looking to have our sited listed at http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Publications/Books/Used_and_Rare/Textbooks

You have already submitted it. Now it is a waiting game. Just wait months and hope that it is approved. Don't submit it again, it will just get you pushed to the back of the list or worse.

It took almost a year for my submission to get listed. I don't know if that was typical or not.

You have to follow this 5 steps :

Don't jump the gun. Make sure that your website is complete and professional. Anything that could go against you such as spelling errors, broken links, or pages that are under construction should be cleaned up before you submit to the Open Directory Project.

Submit to the appropriate category and sub-category. If you submit to a category that is too vague or unrelated to your website then your site will get denied.

Be patient. Don't resubmit your website until you are sure it has been denied. This could take a long time because DMOZ is notorious for slow processing of applications.

Post an inquiry on the Open Directory Project forums to see to progress of your application and ask editors for their opinions on your site.

Apply to become an editor. There are many open editor positions and if you get accepted it may be possible to approve your own site. Make sure that if you are applying to become and editor for the Open Directory Project to take the application seriously.
