Yes.Google's sandbox is a relatively new filter that appeared to be put in place back in March of 2004. This happened after the widely publicized updates of Austin and Florida, and the implementation of what is known as the Austin update. If you are not sure what those are, there is no need to worry as those updates are now for the most part in the past. The sandbox filter seems to affect nearly all new websites placing them on an initial "probation" status. The effect of this is that new websites may get into Google's SERP's (search engine results pages) relatively quickly and may even perform well for a couple of weeks. When the filter is applied to the new website it is referred to as being put in the "sandbox". The new website will still show in the result pages, but it will not rank well regardless of how much original, well optimized content and regardless of how many quality inbound links the site may have. The filter restrains new websites from having immediate success in the search engine result pages.

Its a complex issue Google refuses to come foreward with the truth. I have noticed some sites get "sandboxed" but how can you prove it totally.
For those who aren't privy to the "sandbox myth" here it is: http://www.searchengineguide.com/david-wallace/how-to-play-in-googles-sandbox.php |

We don't really know for sure -only the big G knows...
Getting traffic is a complex issue and takes a lot of hard work and time. The best way to build traffic is to create high quality content, create optimized pages, submit xml maps to the SE, get tons of back links. If you do all that and you still don't get any traffic well maybe there is a sandbox. |

Yes, I read your article, which is why I thought I would make a post.
I did something else I did not tell you about. I took an almost duplicate page of the poker web and put it in a directory in my web, put a link to it in my clients page and another in my site map and I had first page Google rankings for a VERY competitive target in 5 days. How does that fit your sliding scale?..

Some webmasters believes sandbox exits. But no one can confirm sandbox exists. But some new website face temporary ranking drop for not receive rank for some period. This is called as "Google Sandbox".
